How do you pronounce Ouray!?

Sounds like: yur·ay - As in “Hooray for Ouray”

Why Wednesday to Wednesday?

After much thought and deliberation, we have chosen to hold the reunion from a Wednesday-Wednesday to make the reunion more accessible for more family members. It allows those who can only join for a long weekend to still participate meaningfully in the large gatherings, while still encouraging the full length attendance for those who are able. As added bonuses, when factoring in multiple days of travel, it will keep the overall time commitment within two calendar weeks, and will allow us to book excursions (like rafting!) on less busy week days. The Sunday through Saturday option, with travel days before and after, causes many of us to have three weeks of work disruption and three weeks of inability for children to participate in summer camps.

We appreciate your open mind to this reimagined structure. We want to prioritize seeing as many members of the family as possible. Worry not - each day will still have exciting excursions and we hope everyone will join for the full week!

What if my family can’t attend the whole time?

We will have the majority of most inclusive activities on Friday-Sunday. Our goal is for those who can only attend for a limited amount of time to be able to interact with the most amount of people. The highest people-per-day ratio, if you will. Stay tuned for our itinerary which includes fun for all ages, abilities, and interests! Once we put the itinerary out there, you will be able to see what days best fit your schedule and interest level.

What do I need to do now?

Get excited! We are working hard to plan a memorable and fun reunion! Put the dates on your calendar! Think about what type of accommodations will fit your family’s needs. Explore this website and the links we have included about the Ouray area and vicinity. We will let you know when we need decisions and commitments.

Are we making our own reservations at the KOA?

No. We are working closely with the KOA to make the reservation process as easy as possible for our whole group. As we’ve done in years past we will be collecting your first night’s payment as a deposit to secure your reservation. Upon arrival and check-in, you will pay the balance for the remainder of your stay and transfer the reservation into your own name. If you purchase a KOA annual membership you will receive 10% off of your stay (you can purchase upon check-in).

When do we start making reservations?

Here’s the timeline:

2/1/25: We will publish detailed information about available types of accomodations and the quantity of each. Please take your time to review this to figure out what works best for your family. This will be important before the next step.

3/1/25: We will begin taking your reservation requests on the website. This will be first come, first served. At that time we will request your first night’s deposit based on the accomodation you choose (costs will vary). The money will be held in an escrow account and will be used to secure everyone’s reservations with the KOA.

Where is the nearest airport?

Montrose Regional Airport is a fabulous option for those that need to fly into the area. It is 35 miles away from the Ouray KOA!
